Gusty morning – 02/17/18

Today: We’ve been tracking strong winds overnight! Some of you perhaps woke up to the winds howling. Gusts have reached the upper 40s in Woodland Park and the upper 30s on the westside of Colorado Springs. Winds will be the strongest this morning (thus a wind alert level one); however, winds should subside for many areas this afternoon. The exception will be the counties near and along the New Mexico state line. That’s where we could get gusts blowing to 35 mph this afternoon. Red Flag Warnings are in effect for those areas from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Use caution! Today’s temperatures will reach the 50s and 60s.

Tonight: Lows drop to the 20s. Winds shouldn’t be bad overnight. Partly cloudy skies and dry conditions are anticipated into early Wednesday morning.

Extended: Temperatures drop Wednesday thanks to an incoming cold front. Highs will only reach the 30s and 40s! Tomorrow, we also have slight chances for a few showers in the afternoon and evening. Little to no impacts are expected. Temperatures warm back to the 50s and 60s by Friday, but our warmth comes at a cost! Strong gusts are on tap for southern Colorado into the end of the work week and weekend. We’ll track it!
