Colorado white supremacist gets 48 years for burglary, trespassing

A 34-year-old Colorado man found guilty of burglary and trespassing this month received a heftier sentence than normal Tuesday because of his criminal history.

Ricky Lee Reasoner, who court records identified as a white supremacist, broke into a home in unincorporated Arapahoe County last June and was rifling through items in the office when a 17-year-old in the house confronted him. After a physical struggle, Reasoner fled and the teen called 911.

The next month, the Colorado Department of Corrections put out a notice looking for a parolee who cut off his GPS monitor. That parolee was Reasoner, and the teenager recognized him by his “devil eyes,” according to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Reasoner’s criminal history includes convictions for aggravated motor vehicle theft, two counts of possession of a weapon by previous offender, two counts of first-degree trespass to a dwelling, second-degree assault, theft, and accessory to a crime.

“Every time he was released on parole, he committed a new felony offense,” said Deputy District Attorney Laura Robilotta, who prosecuted the case with Senior Deputy District Attorney Jake Adkins. “He has demonstrated time and time again that he will re-victimize members of society when given the chance.”

Reasoner was convicted of burglary and trespassing and sentenced to 48 years total due to his criminal history, to be served alongside his existing sentences.

“This was a grave and serious matter, as were the prior convictions,” Arapahoe District Judge Jeffrey Holmes said. “The legislature has determined this is necessary for the protection of society.”
