Report: Hundreds sexually abused by USA Swimming coaches

A new report claims USA Swimming, headquartered in Colorado Springs, covered up or ignored hundreds of sexual abuse cases.

Those are the claims from a report by ‘The Orange County Register‘.

USA Swimming is housed in Colorado Springs at the Olympic Training Center and officials say about 20 to 25 swimmers live and train there.

The new report claims the organization missed opportunities to change a culture of sexual abuse of underage swimmers by their coaches.

The investigation also says USA Swimming knew of sexual predators in coaching positions for years and did nothing to stop it.

It claims 590 people have come forward with sexual abuse allegations since 1997.

We contacted the US Olympic Committee and USA Swimming, but a representative hasn’t gotten back to us. The USOC says many of their leaders are currently in South Korea for the games.

This all comes on the heels of the Larry Nassar case. You’ll remember more than 250 victims accused the US Olympic Gymnastics doctor of sexual assault.
