Police find 8 explosive devices inside Colorado Springs home

On the corner of Vermijo and Prospect, a small house now sits with its windows boarded up. Colorado Springs police responded to a report of an explosion Friday night. Inside there was a man who suffered minor injuries, and eight undetonated explosive devices.

Edward Kiley, 63, was later arrested on several charges including the manufacturing of explosives.

And this isn’t the first time he’s had a run-in with police. In 2012, it was revealed, Kiley pleaded guilty to possession of an explosive, but it’s unclear if he went to prison.

Sgt. Christ Arseneau of the Colorado Springs Explosives Unit says, ” We had been to that house and that individual’s residence before.”

Outside Kiley’s home are several surveillance cameras and extra lights in each corner of his lot. When speaking with neighbors, they did not seem surprised by his arrest.

One said, “I bypassed him one time and he just made sure I went in front of him before he left the house.”

Colorado Springs police are still investigating why Kiley had so many explosives and what he intended to do with them.
