Two Colorado inmates accused of serious assault involving weapons
Two Colorado inmates are accused of serious assault involving a weapon, causing the victim to be airlifted to a hospital.
The incident happened on Tuesday at the Limon Correctional Facility. Authorities have not released details on the weapons used. The suspects are Rene Guerra and Robert Rodriguez.
The victim had life-threatening injuries, according to the Colorado Department of Corrections. The CDC did not specify if the victim was another inmate or an employee.
Rene Guerra is serving a sentence of life without parole for an incident in Denver County, 3 years in Logan County, and 5 years in Lincoln County.
Robert Rodriguez was serving a 52-year sentence in Mesa County, 10 years in Fremont County and was expected to have a parole hearing in May 2031.
The Office of the Inspector General has taken over the investigation.
