EPSO identifies suspect, officer in Colorado Springs shooting

The man injured in an officer-involved shooting in Colorado Springs on February 9 has been identified.

Dennis Caldarelli was booked into the Criminal Justice Center on charges of Intimidation of a Witness or Victim and False Imprisonment.

This comes after police responded to a domestic disturbance at a home in the 2400 block of South Cascade Avenue on Friday at around 4:11 p.m.

When officers arrived on the scene, Caldarelli barricaded himself inside of the home. When Caldarelli finally exited, officers noticed he was armed. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office did not specify what weapon Caldarelli was holding.

Colorado Springs Police Department Officer Vijay Seenath fired his weapon, wounding Caldarelli. Caldarelli was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officer Seenath has been with the department since October of 2012 and is assigned to the Falcon Division.

The El Paso County Deadly Force Investigation Team has taken over this case.
