Armed suspect found hiding underneath trampoline in SE Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs police tracked down an armed suspect on the southeast side of Colorado Springs on Wednesday.

Officers responded to the Goodwill on S. Academy Boulevard at around 11:20 a.m. to investigate a disturbance that forced the store to go on lockdown.

Witnesses told police that a man, who was later identified as Thomas Ivery, armed with a handgun had just run from the scene towards the nearby Whitney Housing Complex.

A containment was set up, and officers eventually found the gun and Ivery’s clothes, which led them to find Ivery hiding underneath a trampoline behind a six-foot fence

Ivery was arrested for possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
