Social media, victim’s cell phone led to arrest in Colorado teen’s murder

Authorities believe they have the person responsible for shooting a teen in the head in Adams County, Colorado.

Joseph Michael Lopez, 22, was arrested on Thursday on first-degree murder charges in the death of 19-year-old Natalie Bollinger, according to our partners at Denver7.

The Adams County Sheriff Michael McIntosh said on Friday, it was Bollinger’s social media and information on her cell phone that led detectives to Lopez.

Bollinger was found dead on December 29, 2017, with a single gunshot wound to the head. She had been reported missing out of Broomfield, Colorado around 26 hours before.

The Boulder Daily Camera reported that autopsy results showed Bollinger had drugs in her system at the time of her death. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has not released specifics on the substance.
