Celebration in downtown Colorado Springs to kick off 2018 Winter Olympics

The City of Colorado Springs is hosting its annual Olympic Downtown Celebration on Friday night.

This free event will be from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tejon Street will be closed from south of Kiowa to north of Vermijo and Colorado and Pikes Peak Avenues will be closed west of Nevada and east of Cascade for the length of the festivities so driver’s headed home on Friday afternoon should try to avoid the area.

There will be live entertainment and family-friendly activities. While the event is Korean themed, organizers encourage people to support Team USA and wear red, white, and blue.

The Opening Ceremony to officially kick off the 2018 Winter Olympics will air at 6 p.m.
