1 hospitalized in vehicle vs. pedestrian accident just south of downtown Colorado Springs

A person was rushed to the hospital on Friday night after being hit by a vehicle at Nevada and Las Vegas just south of downtown Colorado Springs.

A man was driving his Toyota Solara southbound on Nevada Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. when a pedestrian reportedly ran out in front of him. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Southbound Nevada is closed at Mill Street for the investigation.

The driver is cooperating with officers, according to Colorado Springs Police Department spokesperson Lt. Howard Black.

Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident.
