Guns, ammo taken from burned Colorado home where dead teen was found

Authorities say two guns, ammunition and a safe were stolen from the Colorado home where a 17-year-old girl was found dead in December.

The Park County Sheriff’s Office held the first public briefing on the case on Wednesday, more than a month after Maggie Long’s body was found inside her family’s burned home in Bailey, Colo.

Sheriff Fred Wegener says no arrests have been made but investigators have made progress. Officials said jade figurines also were stolen.

The sheriff’s office, the FBI, the ATF and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation are offering a $20,000 reward.

Authorities were slow to release information in the case.

The fire was set on Dec. 1 and police found the body that day. The coroner identified the body as Long’s on Dec. 4.
