Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Tracking Temperature Changes! – 2/3/2018
Today: Partly cloudy, breezy at times & warm with high temperatures in the 50s and 60s for the plains, mainly 40s for the mountains. Wind gusts could approach 30 mph at times over and near the mountains.
Tonight: Partly cloudy and mild with low temperatures falling into the 20s and 30s for most areas, but some pockets near the higher terrain may remain in the 40s for much of the night.
Extended: Sunday morning may start quite mild, but a shallow layer of much colder air will be racing southward over eastern Colorado during the day. Most areas in eastern Colorado will have temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees colder by Sunday afternoon, while some communities in the mountains may have very little change in temperature at all. Afternoon temperatures over the plains will probably hover in the 30s, and as the cold front moves over the area low clouds and pockets of fog/freezing fog may develop over the northern slopes of the Palmer Divide, and possibly the Raton Mesa. The cold air should slide back out of the area on Monday so many areas will be much warmer again. The air will turn sharply colder again on Tuesday with a chance for a quick burst of snow that could affect the morning commute for some areas. The rest of the week looks warmer with periods of wind and dry conditions.
