Pueblo Police Department identifies officers involved in fatal shooting

The Pueblo Police Department Friday released the names of the officers who were involved in the fatal shooting of a suspect on Jan. 22.

Joe F. Delira-Alires, 35, was shot by police after firing shots in the air outside of his ex-girlfriend’s house and then leading a chase through the city, the department said. He was stopped near 13th and Craig streets and shot at officers on foot before he was killed.

Pueblo police said the following officers were involved in the incident and have been placed on administrative leave: Michael Bellamy, Thomas DeCesaro, Bernadette Lambert, Nicholas Lile, Jonathan McCluskey, Eufracio “J.J.” Ortiz, Alan Wilson, and Sgt. Randall Ramos.

Back in February, Bellamy was cleared of wrongdoing in another fatal shooting in which he killed an armed man who was wanted for escaping from the Colorado Department of Corrections.

DeCesaro faced internal disciplinary action following an incident involving an arrest of a suspect after a bar scuffle, according to the Denver Post . That incident resulted in criminal charges for another Pueblo officer.

The 10th Judicial District Critical Incident Team is investigating the incident, with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office being the lead agency in charge of the case.
