Obituary honors Fort Carson soldier killed in Apache crash
We’re learning more about the 25-year-old Fort Carson soldier who lost his life in an Apache crash last month.

Clayton Robert “Clay” Cullen, 25, formerly of Bicknell, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 in San Bernardino, CA. Clay was born July 9, 1992, in Evansville, the son of Robert Joseph and Julie Ann (Curry) Cullen. He graduated from North Knox High School, where he was student body president, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in History at Indiana University. He was a pilot with the rank of 1LT in the United States Army. He enjoyed playing golf, soccer, kickball, reading, traveling, history and trying new foods. Clay was a strong Christian and loved sharing his faith with others.
Clay is survived by his parents, Robert and Julie Cullen of Bruceville; brother, Ian (Katie) Cullen of Springfield, TN; grandmother, Kathleen Curry Pack of Freelandville; aunt, Kay Mengedoht of Bicknell; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew and Mary Cullen, Clayton Curry; and cousin, Eric Clinkenbeard.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, 2018 at 10:00 AM at North Knox High School, 11110 N. SR 159. Bicknell, IN 47512 with Rev. Matt Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, February 2nd, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM also at the high school. He will be laid to rest at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery with full Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to North Knox.
