Bomb threat prompts evacuation at Pueblo school; no bomb found

Students and faculty at Cesar Chavez Academy in Pueblo were evacuated to a nearby building after the school received a report of a bomb threat Thursday afternoon.

The evacuation started around 2 p.m. It was initially reported that a student had a bomb in his backpack.

Pueblo police bomb squad arrived at the scene and determined there was no explosive device inside the backpack shortly before 3 p.m.

An alert was sent to parents about the evacuation. Parents can pick students up at the northeast side of Dolores Huerta Preparatory High School.

No word was given if criminal charges were considered.

Editor’s note: Pueblo officials originally said the evacuation was at Dolores Huerta before issuing a correction around 3:15 p.m. This article has been updated to reflect that change.
