Fountain PD: ‘Claymore’ mine is real

The object discovered on Saturday by a boy in Fountain has been determined to be a real ‘Claymore’ mine, according to the Fountain Police Department.

The explosive device was found off Grinde Drive at around 6:13 p.m. and the Colorado Springs Police Department Explosives Unit was called to help with the investigation.

Fortunately, no one was injured. The area was searched and no other explosive or suspicious devices were discovered.

Fort Carson Military Police have taken over the case.

Authorities ask that if you locate a suspicious device and/or a suspected explosive device, do not pick it up or touch it. Stay away from the device and contact your local law enforcement immediately.
