District 11 teacher arrested for child porn
A Colorado Springs 6th grade science teacher has been arrested for sexual exploitation of a child.
Mike Hedges was arrested on Friday after Colorado Springs police say they first received tips about the incident from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Hedges is accused of having child pornography in his possession.
Colorado Springs School District #11 says they are cooperating with law enforcement’s investigation. Police say there is no information pointing to students as victims but they are still looking for potential victims.
A mother in the area said, “I just think it’s awful. I just think this is nothing any parent wants to hear about, definitely.”
A security officer patrolling the school said parents had not been notified yet. An announcement was expected to come on Tuesday morning.
