Cyclists concerned about booby trap on Colorado Springs trail
Cyclists in Colorado Springs are calling foul after a picture circulated on social media showing a trail at North Cheyenne Canyon Park booby-trapped with fishing line.
The cyclist who spotted the trap Friday in Sesame Canyon took it down quickly but first took a picture to share online.
No one was injured by the trap, but it’s following a disturbing trend. Our partners at TheDenverChannel.com report that similar traps have been found in recent years from Carbondale to Littleton.
“There is a better outlet for expressing their opposition to mountain bikes, which is presumably what this is,” Harry Hamill, a board member with Medicine Wheel Trail Advocates in Colorado Springs, told KMGH.
Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation say they’re investigating the incident. If you find a booby-trapped trail, you’re encouraged to document it and report it to police.
