ESPN eyeing Peyton Manning for Monday Night Football role
ESPN is hoping former Broncos Quarterback Peyton Manning will entertain the thought of entertaining millions of viewers as the network’s lead analyst on Monday Night Football.
With the departure of Jon Gruden, who left the network to coach the Oakland Raiders, the network is eyeing Manning and former quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to fill the role. Hasselbeck is slated to call the Pro Bowl for ESPN this Sunday.
ESPN executive Stephanie Druley told Sports Illustrated, “We like Peyton Manning and we would be foolish not to talk to him.”
Druley said the network hasn’t yet spoken to Manning about the possibility, but said Manning knows there’s interest.
According to KDVR , the network is also looking at analysts currently on Sunday NFL Countdown.
