Colorado man among 5 found in Oklahoma rig explosion

A Colorado man is among the five people believed to be dead after an explosion at a gas well in Oklahoma Monday.

According to authorities, five workers were at a depth of 13,500 feet at the time of the explosion, 17 others were on the rig.

Searchers recovered remains of five workers on Tuesday afternoon. Pittsburg County Sheriff Chris Morris said personnel from the state medical examiner’s office began searching for the workers about noon once the drilling site had been stabilized.

Morris says the bodies are being transported to Oklahoma City for identification.

At a press conference earlier on Tuesday, 26-year-old Cory Risk from Wellington, Colo. was identified as one of the workers missing following the explosion.

According to CNN, the cause of the incident is still unclear.

The oil company company pledged a full investigation. State authorities are looking into whether any regulations were broken leading up to the explosion.
