Search continues for man accused of firing shots at Colorado Springs officers

The search continues for a man who allegedly fired shots at Colorado Springs officers on N. Union Boulevard on Friday afternoon.

Officers first responded to the 5800 block of N. Union Blvd. for a domestic violence call at around 3:40 p.m.

Shots were exchanged between police and the suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Neal Joseph Arceneaux at around 4 p.m., fortunately, no one was injured.

Several streets near Union and Vickers were shut down. CSPD tweeted at 4:41 p.m. that the situation “is not safe” and that residents should stay inside and away from the windows.

Throughout the rest of the day on Friday and into the early morning hours on Saturday, no one was being allowed into the perimeter set up by the Colorado Springs Police Department and a Reverse 911 was in place for area residents.

Most of the roads were reopened just before 1 a.m. Officers decreased the sized of the perimeter to a few buildings in the area of Union and Vickers at around 1:11 a.m.
