Appeals Court to rule on Fort Collins nudity ban

An attorney in Fort Collins is continuing the fight to allow women the right to be topless in public.

Free the Nipple activist Andrew McNulty argued against the Fort Collins’ ban Wednesday to the federal 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

According to the Coloradoan, the Appeals Court showed skepticism towards McNulty’s stance stating the fundamental difference between the chest of both genders and that if women were allowed to expose their breasts in public, it would cause societal turmoil.

The three-judge panel also discussed whether the ban on females being able to publicly show their breasts could be considered discriminatory against women.

“It’s nearly impossible to read the tea leaves, but I was very pleasantly surprised at how receptive the panel was to our argument, and I’m optimistic about our chances,” McNulty said after the hearing.

There won’t be a ruling for at least two to four months.
