Colorado Springs police investigate auto-pedestrian crash on North Academy

Colorado Springs are investigating after an auto-pedestrian crash Saturday night.

The crash happened on North Academy Boulevard near San Miguel Street. As of 8:25 p.m., all south bound lanes were closed in the area. Police say the closures will last several hours.

Police responded to the scene just after 6 p.m. and found a pedestrian attempted to cross the street where there was no crosswalk. The pedestrian also was reportedly wearing dark clothing making it difficult to see them.

The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash, and the driver is cooperating with the investigation. The driver was not injured in the crash.

This is the fourth vehicle versus pedestrian of 2018 in Colorado Springs. Two other incidents had fatalities.
