Weather Alert Day: Expect gusts, possible rain with cold front

TODAY: It is a Weather Alert Day in Southern Colorado! We are tracking some BIG changes as a cold front sweeps through the area. Rain showers will likely be developing in some of our mountain cities between 12PM and 3PM in the afternoon. This will likely spread into some of the lower elevations in the following hours. Because temperatures will still be fairly mild, a lot of this activity should present itself as rain before snow begins to mix in through the evening. The higher terrain has better opportunities of seeing snow mixing in during the early afternoon. This will likely begin its transition to all snow following 8PM. Temperatures will drop about 20 degrees between noon and 10PM. Keep your heavy coat close by!

TONIGHT: Snow showers wind down through midnight leaving light accumulations. 1-2″ is possible in places near Woodland Park. The Palmer Divide and Mounument areas will see 1″ or less. Peaks in the Sangres will be left with spots of up to 7″ and a trace to 2″ is possible on the Raton Mesa.

EXTENDED: The long range looks quiet and dry! Stay with KRDO for any kind of changes in the coming days.
