Switchbacks propose to move stadium downtown

On Monday, City Council opened the floor to discuss the possibility of moving the Switchback stadium from the 5 thousand seat Weidner Field to Antlers Park in downtown Colorado Springs.

Switchbacks president Nick Ragain and Attorney Perry Sanders Jr. stood up during the meeting to express their interest in creating this new 8 thousand seat venue.

“The recommendation for our league right now is 10 thousand seats and we currently get just up to 5 thousand where we are currently located and all of our facilities are temporary because we have always had the vision of taking the next step,” said Ragain.

The proposal seeks to use funding for the project from Colorado’s Regional Tourism Act, but the deadline to get this approved is December of this year.
