Court martial set for ‘peeping’ Air Force Academy cadet

An Air Force Academy cadet who is accused taking pictures of women in an Academy bathroom is going to face a court martial on Thursday.

Cadet 4th Class Sammy Tawakkol allegedly attempted to “knowingly and wrongfully photograph the private areas of various females without their consent and under circumstances in which the females had a reasonable expectation of privacy.”

Tawakkol is also charged with failing to obey the order of a superior commissioned officer to not enter a women’s bathroom to take photographs of women without their consent.

The Academy has not identified the women in the photos, and it doesn’t believe any of the photos were shared with anyone else. When the accusations first surfaced, the Academy released the following statement:

“This alleged misconduct represents a severe, unacceptable deviation from our core values. The Academy is committed to fostering a culture and climate of respect, and in instances such as this we ensure victims receive the attentive, compassionate care they deserve and perpetrators are held accountable after receiving the appropriate due process.”

Tawakkol was facing charges for an incident that happened in Texas last year. According to a probable cause statement out of College Station, Texas, Tawakkol was attending a Rubik’s Cube competition when a woman reported that he used a cell phone to take video of her while she was using the bathroom.
