Near Record Warmth Tuesday 1-8-18

TONIGHT: Cloud cover continues overnight with some clearing through the early morning hours. Lows stay mild for January standards, in the 20s and 30s due to cloud cover and increasing winds.

TOMORROW: Sunny skies will start our Tuesday with temps climbing to the low to mid 50s in Teller County, mid to upper 60s in and around Colorado Springs and the foothills, with the low to mid 70s near Pueblo and the Eastern Plains. May places will reach record warmth during the afternoon with gusty winds at times. Between the warmth, dry fuels and occasional gusty conditions, fire weather conditions will be elevated.

EXTENDED: Don’t get too accustomed to the 60s and 70s on Tuesday as the cool down starts on Wednesday. A cold front will move in to Southern Colorado kicking up the winds and bringing some rain and snow to the area. The higher terrain may see some minor accumulating snow, but the Front Range and Eastern Plains are likely to see rain initially then changing to snow. This will have an impact on any snow accumulation. We will continue to track this system and the even cooler temps set to move in behind the front on Thursday.
