C&C Sand in Colorado Springs hosts giveaway for 719 Rocks
A Colorado Springs stone supply company offered a helping hand to a movement that decorates rocks for other locals to find.
C&C Sand let people pick up 40 pounds of rocks each for free Saturday. Residents took them up on the offer and showed up with buckets ready for the free rocks. (PHOTOS)
The popular social group 719 Rocks, which boasts more than 46,000 members, takes ordinary stones and paints them to leave hidden for others. Members say their goal is simple: to bring random acts of joy to people and create an endless ripple of paying it forward.
The rock giveaway started after a member noticed that a friend was taking rocks without permission. That person then reached out to C&C Sand, and they organized Saturday’s giveaway.
