Funeral set for fallen Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputy

A date has been set for the funeral of the Douglas County deputy who was gunned down on New Year’s Eve.

Zackari Parrish’s funeral will be held at the Cherry Hills Community Church at 3900 Grace Boulevard in Highlands Ranch on Friday, January 5 at 11 a.m.

Parrish was shot and killed by Matthew Riehl, 37, as he was investigating a disturbance at the Copper Canyon Apartments off East County Line Road.

Four other deputies were injured in the shooting and taken to the hospital. Three of them have since been released, and the fourth is expected to be OK.

Two pedestrians also suffered gunshot wounds. It was last reported that they were in stable condition.
