Round Rock PD: Tip to Las Animas Co. Sheriff’s Office led to arrest, 2 girls safe
Two girls missing from Texas are now safe in Colorado, and a man is in custody. The Round Rock Police Department gave updates during a news conference on Wednesday night.
Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said that around 7:30 p.m. a tip was received by the Las Animas County Sheriff Office from someone who spotted the 2017 gray Hundai Accent connected with the two missing girls, Lili Griffith or Lulu Bandera-Magret from Texas.
A Las Animas County deputy located the vehicle and pulled in behind it. The Hundai started driving erratically.
Once backup arrived, deputies initiated a high-risk traffic stop. They eventually got the vehicle to pull over. The driver, Terry Miles was taken into custody without incident.
The two girls were found unharmed and safe in the vehicle, according to Banks. They were taken to an area hospital to be checked out.
Miles is being held in Las Animas Sheriff’s Office custody until Round Rock investigators can get there on Thursday.
Child Protective Services in Texas and Social Services in Colorado will work to get the girls back to their families in Texas.
Lili and Lulu were reported missing after police did a welfare check at their home in Round Rock on New Year’s Eve and found their mother dead.
