Bitter cold New Year’s Eve – 12/31/17

TODAY: We will kick off the morning with similar weather to yesterday. Shallow cold air will be in place along the front range. This and easterly winds will allow for areas of freezing fog, flurries and or light snow as well as temperatures in the 20s. We can’t rule out a coating of snow in some places. Any light snow tapers off through the afternoon but we will be hard pressed to get rid of all the clouds. Higher elevations will be treated to sunshine and warmer highs today.

TONIGHT: It will be very necessary to dress warm for your New Years Eve plans tonight. Arctic air will allow lows will plummet into the single digits. Any kind of a breeze will produce wind chills below zero. Skies will be partly to mostly clear.

EXTENDED: The long range forecast looks quiet. We should start to get rid of some of that shallow cold air, so look for highs to slowly get back to near 50 by the second half of the week.
