Police not yet releasing info on Colorado Springs Kmart shooting

Colorado Springs Police have not released any new information on the Kmart shooting that took place 24 hours ago.

One man died at the hospital after suffering from a gunshot wound just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night. A description of the suspect has not been released nor the identity of the victim.

Thursday morning, shoppers were said they were taking extra precautions while shopping in the area.

Russell Stevenson says, “With our strong military and four bases, it’s a little sad that happens.”

Another shopper Patricia Maloney-Nardis says, “I don’t carry a gun or anything. Just hope it doesn’t happen while I’m there.”

Business inside the Kmart was not affected by the shooting. It reopened early Thursday morning after shoppers were forced to leave their cars overnight while police investigated the scene for bullet shell casings.

If you have any information on the shooting, you are urged to call the Colorado Springs Police Department.
