Staying Above Average… For Now – 12/27/17

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and not as chilly with low temperatures in the teens and 20s for most areas, a few spots near the higher terrain may remain in the 30s for much of the night…

THURSDAY: A beautiful afternoon awaits us all as temperatures rebound into the 40s and 50s all across our beloved state! We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds, but nothing that’ll threaten to keep us from those promised highs.

EXTENDED: As the week progresses there are indications that the shallow layer of cold air will slowly recede from the I-25 corridor, and if this occurs as expected we will notice a gradual warming with some periods of wind. We’re tracking a cold front that may bring another relatively shallow layer of cold air to the area this weekend. It is very difficult to know where the western edge of pools of cold air like this will settle, and how deep they’ll be, especially several days ahead of time. This next cold front looks to bring a deeper shot of cold air to the area though, and if so we would expect better chances for light snow over more areas. We’ll track the position of the cold air closely as we approach the New Year!
