Marty’s Friday Morning Forecast / Chilly Morning! 12/22/17

Today: Chilly this morning with temperatures in the single digits and teens. Mostly sunny and warmer this afternoon with high temperatures near seasonal averages in the upper 30s to middle 40s for the plains, mainly 30s over the mountains. The wind should remain light for most areas today.

Tonight: Mostly clear & not as chilly with low temperatures in the teens to lower 20s.

Extended: Saturday should be a bit breezy with temperatures only slightly warmer than today. Another cold front should arrive Saturday night. Right now it does not appear likely that this cold front will bring any widespread, significant precipitation to the area, but a few flurries, or scattered, brief snow showers are possible briefly over the Pikes Peak Region. Sunday morning could start out a bit cloudy for some areas, but we should see some sun during the afternoon. High temperatures on Sunday will be colder with 20s and 30s for most areas for much of the day. The air may begin to warm after midnight, and Christmas Day looks warm and dry area wide. High temperatures should reach the 50s for the plains during the afternoon hours on Christmas Day, mainly 40s over the mountains. A shallow layer of cooler air should drop our temperatures closer to seasonal averages through the middle of next week. By late next week it’s possible another shot of very cold air and snow will reach the area.
