Springs Rescue Mission adds beds for colder weather

Twenty more people have a place to sleep this weekend in Colorado Springs.

The Springs Rescue Mission added 20 beds to their already 300 spot capacity inside their facility. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing and stay cold through the rest of the year, prompting them to add more spots.

Stu Davis, communication manager says, “Not everybody knows that we can take in people’s animals and we have place for people’s animals to be taken care of or get the rest that they need.

He adds, “We have showers, we have meals, we have lots of things people can take advantage of by coming in and being a part of the process.”

On Saturday, they are hosting a holiday meal and outreach program where they expect to feed 1,000 people from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the City Auditorium.

The Springs Rescue Mission is still looking for volunteers, for more information visit their website.
