Cold Wind & Snow – 12/20/17

TONIGHT: Skies will be partly cloudy overnight and we remain mainly dry. Our lows cool into the 20s and 30s and light snow will begin to fall in the central and northern mountains.

THURSDAY: Light snow spreads south by the morning commute tomorrow. Significant impacts are not expected but be aware of slippery spots, especially in higher elevations. Spotty light snow continues tomorrow afternoon. 1-3″ is possible around Woodland Park with 1-2″ around Monument and the Palmer Divide area. Little to no accumulation is expected in lower elevations, though we could see up to a quarter inch of the white stuff in southwestern Colorado Springs.

EXTENDED: Snow will clear out and leave us with a lot of sunshine on Friday, so we’ll warm back up above freezing into the 30s & 40s across the Front Range and 20s & 30s in the mountains. There is a bit of good news regarding the weekend arctic air. Most of that arctic blast is now expected to stay just far enough to the north that it’ll bypass us and head east instead. This means highs over the weekend in the 30s rather than the 20s & 10s. More light snow is possible on Saturday.
