27-yr-old dies in rock climbing accident in southern Colorado

A 27-year-old died while rock climbing in “The Piggy Bank” area on Saturday.

Andrew Biebuyck, who was originally from Virginia but was living in the Pueblo area for work, fell around 60 feet.

Fremont County deputies responded to the Banks Hiking area located off Red Canyon Road in Canon City at around 12:20 p.m.

Lifesaving measures were taken but Biebuyck was pronounced dead at the scene.

​​​​​​​Biebuyck’s girlfriend, Natalie Smith posted in part on Facebook on December 18:

“As overwhelming as this entire experience has been, it is the love and support and energy I have received from countless family, friends, and people that Drew’s life has touched that has made it a little less dark. He was always with me somehow, and I’d like to think he’d want to keep it that way.”
