Crews continue to monitor range fire on Fort Carson

Fire crews at Fort Carson continue to monitor the range fire burning on Post.

The fire located just south of Colorado Springs first started on Saturday from helicopter munition. Hot spots flared up on Sunday, causing an additional fire and smoke visible for miles.

The fire is burning in the large impact area where there is live unexploded ordnance, which means crews have to battle it from an outside perimeter.

No structures are threatened and the fire was completely under control as of Monday afternoon.

Crews will continue to watch the impacted area for any other hot spot flare-ups.
