Helicopter munition starts small fire at Fort Carson

A plume of smoke rose from Fort Carson early Saturday afternoon after a small fire was started on the training range.

According to a spokesperson with the Colorado Springs Army base, a helicopter munition started the fire. The base’s fire department was dispatched to the training range to extinguish the flames.

No injuries were reported, and the spokesperson said no ambulances needed to be sent to the scene. No structures were threatened by the fire.
