Colorado Springs Salvation Army needs more bell ringers

You may have seen the men and women around Colorado Springs ringing their bells next to the iconic red kettles this holiday season, but keep count and you’ll notice there are fewer Salvation Army bell ringers this year compared to previous years.

While the Salvation Army collects funds from other sources, the nonprofit relies on the bell-ringing volunteers the most. Without the full staff, the Salvation Army is asking for additional volunteers.

“Volunteers are essential for everything we do,” said Salvation Army minister Caleb Fankhauser. “When we have volunteers out there, every cent put in the pot is going to help those in need. Our volunteers help us succeed and help us help more people.”

That change can add up to make a difference quick, as the Salvation Army says it costs only $1.83 to provide a child with a hot meal.

There are three Salvation Army service centers in the Colorado Springs and Pueblo areas. Shifts are flexible and anyone can sign up to be a bell ringer. You can sign up by clicking HERE.
