Colorado Springs police investigating robbery at Subway on Academy Blvd.

A hooded man wearing a bandana and blue jeans robbed the Academy Blvd. Subway restaurant Friday evening, and police are looking for the suspect.

The robbery happened around 7 p.m., according to a diner at the restaurant in the 3400 block of N. Academy Blvd. The diner said the man walked in and pointed a silver handgun at him, demanding his wallet. The suspect then demanded money from the restaurant employee.

Police reported the suspect stole about $30 from the store, but the customer lost about $100 in his wallet.

The diner told KRDO that the suspect then fled on foot around the building, heading west. Police were seen staging on Van Teylingen Drive near Carefree Circle.

Police corroborated what the diner told KRDO and said they were still searching for him.

The restaurant was open and serving customers as of 7:45 p.m.
