Some snow tonight, windy and cold – 12/7/17

TONIGHT: Light snow will be tapering off between midnight and 4 am, leaving very light accumulations around the Palmer Divide, Woodland Park, the Sangres and Raton Mesa. Winds increase through the overnight, so expect gusts between 30 and 45 mph. Lows cool to the 20s but wind chills will make it feel like the teens and single digits.

TOMORROW: A wind alert level 2 is in place for Friday! That means we could see some gusts up to around 50 mph at times (especially on the eastern plains). Red flag warnings are in place through late morning into early evening along and east of I-25. Outdoor burning should be avoided as fires could spread quickly. Highs will be much warmer and will top off in the 50s to near 60.

EXTENDED: The long range forecast looks sunny and fairly mild. Highs will range from the 50s and 60s. Our next system arrives by next Thursday which brings more clouds and cooler temperatures.
