Colorado Springs Man Pleads Guilty to Assault Charge after Tossing Toddler into Traffic

A Colorado Springs man has pleaded guilty to charges to second-degree assault after throwing a child into the street earlier this year.

Bryant Hickcox, 30, was arrested in July for tossing a two-year-old into the intersection of Academy Boulevard and Airport Road.

Witnesses told the Colorado Springs Police Department that he was driving down Academy when he saw the man, later identified as Hickcox, throw something into the road directly in front of his vehicle. The witness slammed on his brakes.

Witnesses also claim to have heard Hickcox say that “the child was the devil.”

Hickcox was originally charged with attempted murder and child abuse.

Sentencing will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
