Colorado Springs police officer shoots, kills suspect during fight

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office revealed what led up to an officer-involved shooting Saturday night.

It happened around 6 p.m. on South Nevada Avenue- Near East Navajo Street.

Deputies say a Colorado Springs police officer was trying to arrest a suspect on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

That’s when a fight broke out and the man pulled his gun on the officer. Police then opened fire.

Emergency personnel took the suspect to the hospital, where he later died. The officer involved had only minor injuries.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has not released the name of the officer or the suspect involved.
