Suspected drunk driver dies after crash along I-25

A suspected drunk driver died after a crash along I-25 in Colorado Springs on Sunday afternoon.

Just before the crash, police say several other drivers called 911 about the vehicle speeding and unable to stay in its lane.

Witnesses say the small SUV rolled over several times before landing in the median along the interstate just south of Woodman.

The victim was ejected during the crash and rushed to the hospital, but died later from his injuries.

Colorado Springs Police say the crash involved only one vehicle, and no one else was hurt.

The wreck slowed traffic on the northbound side for several hours during the investigation and cleanup.

The victim was not identified.

His death is the 35th traffic related fatality this year.

That ties 2017 with 2013 as the year with the highest number of fatalities, with six weeks of holiday travel still to go.
