Vice President Pence speaks at Colorado Republican Party’s fundraiser
The opioid epidemic, the military and tax reform. These are just a few of the topics are just a few of the ones Vice President Mike Pence covered at the Colorado Republican Party fundraiser in Denver Thursday.
“He’s a great guy, he’s an outstanding speaker that just fires up the crowd,” Colorado Republican Party Chairman Jeff Hays said.
The vice president hit key republican points in his speech like the right to bear arms, building up the military and lowering taxes.
“With the passage of the budget in the House of Representatives we have set the stage to cut taxes across the board for working families, small businesses, family farms and ranchers,” Pence said.
Pence also mentioned the “results” President Trump and the party have produced, and the commitment to fight the opioid epidemic.
“Under this President’s leadership, you can be assured that this will be the generation that ends the opiate epidemic in America,” Pence said.
But the night wasn’t free of opposition. Outside the Marriott, at the Denver Tech Center, a crowd protested the current administration.
Their biggest administration was “Colorado does not discriminate”
“The policies that are sliding through, the rhetoric that is dividing us is not OK and it’s not who we are,” Executive Director of the Interfaith Alliance of Colorado, Rev. Amanda Henderson said.
“I don’t think he has any concern for the American citizen man or women,” Deb Kupecz said.
Hays said he was not concerned with what happened outside the fundraiser.
“We recognize the right to do it. But we certainly disagree with their points,” Hays said.
The vice president also touched on what the future looks like for the nation, the party and the state. Pence said he believed a Colorado Republican governor could be a reality with next year’s election.
