Las Vegas massacre affects people all over, including southern Colorado

The massacre in Las Vegas has caused ripple effects all over the country, including here in Southern Colorado.

We’ve heard stories from people living here who were at the concert when the shooting happened. Now, we are also hearing from people who were affected, not because they were there, but because their loved one was.

Sheila Seabloom was at work when she found out her cousin’s son had been shot.

“I was in complete shock,” she said. “I had this horrible feeling all day about it, I was almost in tears, and then I found out that it hit so close to home for me.”

She said her cousin’s son, Stephen Vicelja, is actually feeling lucky because he is expected to recover after being shot in the hip.

“He was helping some injured kids when he got shot,” she said. “He was just being a Good Samaritan.”

She got emotional when talking about what she wanted to say to all of the people affected by the tragedy.

“Know that our thoughts and all of America’s thoughts are with you. I feel your pain, as a parent,” Seabloom said. “We hope and pray you can find the road back to recovery and healing.”

She said the situation is a reminder that you need to love everyone and make sure they know it.
