Viewing the eclipse properly
With just a few days until the solar eclipse, many people are rushing to make sure they’re prepared. While we won’t experience the total solar eclipse unlike our neighbors along the path of darkness, our view could still be interesting. Remember, the sun will appear smaller than you think!
Before looking to the sky, remember your ISO certified glasses! The bad news is many places, including the Pikes Peak Library District, are out of the protective eyewear. Now, experts are warning people about using fake ones sold on Amazon that are under recall.
“The problem is some of the fake glasses that are out there have the ISO number,” said Colleen Parith with the Space Foundation. “So what we recommend that you do is look at NASA, they have a list of approved vendors, suppliers, people that are manufacturing these and make sure the ones you have are safe.”
Looking at the sun without protection can cause permanent damage.
