Musicians pay tribute and celebrate the life of Glen Campbell

The music world is remembering the life of Glen Campbell, who died this week after battling Alzheimer’s disease.

Variety reports musicians, friends and fans are taking to social media to say goodbye to the “Rhinestone Cowboy”.

According to his Wikipedia page, Campbell was an American singer, songwriter, musician, television host, and actor. During his 50 years in show business, he released more than 70 albums and sold 45 million records.

Some of his hits include “Rhinestone Cowboy,” “Wichita Lineman” and “Gentle on my Mind”

Ashley Campbell, Glen’s daughter, says, “Heartbroken. I owe him everything I am, and everything I ever will be. He will be remembered so well and with so much love.”

Country musician Blake Shelton tweeted, “Extremely sad to hear that Glen Campbell has passed away. My prayers and thoughts go out to him and his family.”

Brad Paisley tweeted, “Thank you @GlenCampbell for the artistry, grace & class you brought to country music. You were a shining light in so many ways.”

Former Beach Boys member Brian Wilson tweeted,”I’m very broken up to hear about my friend Glen Campbell. An incredible musician and an even better person. I’m at a loss. Love & Mercy.”

Campbell took over as the lead singer of the Beach Boys for Wilson in 1964 when Wilson was recovering from a breakdown.
