Police: Man crashes, runs away with gun in Colorado Springs

Police have arrested a man accused of crashing and then running off with a gun in Colorado Springs Saturday afternoon.

It happened in a neighborhood in the area of Chelton Road and South Academy Boulevard.

According to Colorado Springs police, witnesses say the man crash into a mailbox and then ran off.

A homeowner in the 3500-block of Darkwood Drive called police to say a man with a gun climbed a tree in his yard and jumped on his roof.

Officers were able to find the suspect, talked him into disarming himself and arrested him.

The suspect was identified as Gabriel Garcia, police said.

No injuries were reported.
